It's New Year's Eve, and Kelle in San Francisco dazzles us with her orange cumin beef stew! 
 
 
Orange Cumin Beef Stew
8-12 oz. stew beef, cut in 1" cubes
¼ cup orange juice
Grated zest of 1 orange
2 cups (16 oz.) beef or vegetable broth
Half a 6-ounce can of tomato paste
2 tbs red wine vinegar
1 tbs light brown sugar
2 tsp cumin
1½ tsp oregano
2 minced cloves of garlic
¾ tsp allspice
1 bay leaf
½ lb. small fresh mushrooms, halved
3 tbs butter
4-5 oz. fresh or frozen pearl onions
Optional: A can of Muir Glen fire-roasted tomatoes, cubed potatoes, sliced carrots
